We have gathered here the questions people ask most on the first call. If yours is not here, write to us and we will answer the same day.
QuestionMy partner doesn’t want to come. Can I start alone?
Answer
Yes. You can start with relationship-focused individual sessions. If your partner later wants to join, we will consider moving on to couples work together; to keep neutrality, the couples process is usually led by our other therapist.
QuestionWill what I say in an individual session be shared with my partner?
Answer
No. What you say in an individual session stays in the therapist’s own notes. However, if information that directly affects the process is kept hidden, couples therapy may not be able to continue; in that case we look together for a way for you to share it. We agree on this approach in writing in the first joint session.
QuestionHow many sessions does couples therapy take?
Answer
It varies from couple to couple. Most processes take 10–20 sessions. Around the sixth session we hold a review and decide together how to continue. We do not promise results within a set number of sessions.
QuestionDoes the therapist take sides?
Answer
No. In sessions we talk not about who is right but about where you are both stuck. If one of you feels alone, we ask you to say so in the session; keeping neutrality is part of our job.
QuestionIs couples therapy suitable if there is violence in the relationship?
Answer
If there is ongoing physical or severe psychological violence, couples therapy is not suitable; safety comes first. QuestionWhat is the cancellation policy?

Answer
No. We do not ask for packages or advance payment; each session is paid for on the day.

Answer
We use an end-to-end encrypted video call service; the link arrives by text message and email before the appointment. Couples can join from the same screen or from two different places. Sessions are never recorded.
QuestionCan we have online sessions from abroad?
Answer
Yes, in Turkish or English. We plan around the time difference in the pre-call. In a crisis or where safety is a concern, we recommend seeing a professional in person where you live.
QuestionDo you see my teenager separately?
Answer
Yes. Within family work we hold age-appropriate individual sessions with teenagers. We do not pass on to parents what a teenager tells us; the only exception is a situation that puts their own or someone else’s safety at risk.
QuestionDo you write reports for court?
Answer
No. We do not write expert reports for custody or divorce cases. The aim of parenting sessions is to build the child’s everyday routine across two homes.
QuestionWhy don’t you ask for health information on the form?
Answer
Health data is a special category of personal data. The forms are only for reaching you; we talk about what you are going through in the session, in person or online.
QuestionAre sessions recorded?
Answer
No. In-person and online sessions are never recorded as audio or video. Therapists keep only their own session notes and do not share them with third parties.
